MSI rates their SSD RAID 0 array at 900MB/s read. As we can see here the RAID array goes over 1000MB/s in terms of read speed! While the write speed is a little ‘slower’ at a still very respectable average of 800MB/s. The 1TB HDD averages around 80-90MB/s. Overall, considering this is a laptop and not a high end custom built desktop, it performed quite well.

Conclusion

MSI built a winner here, plain and simple. The laptop is deliciously thin and light  and performs like a champ, what more can one ask for? There’s a couple design issues that I’d recommend MSI look into  but there’s only so much you can do and I imagine MSI is pretty limited by the time they stuff all the hardware into this thin laptop. If you’re looking for a desktop replacement but don’t want an ungodly thick laptop like most gaming laptops are, then this is the one for you. I bought mine during a special for $1999 and received a $500 46″ 1080P HDTV for free. For $1500 I am completely satisfied and I don’t think I could have gotten much better for the price. As of this review MSI has replaced this model of the GS70 with updated components, however this will at least give you a general idea of the feel of the GS series.
