ASUS is rolling out the kit they talked about when Nvidia first revealed their G-Sync technology for their quite famous VG248QE. Previously users would use the unofficially supported tech, “Lightboost” to allow for a nearly perfect motion-blur-less experience. Nvidia later showcased G-Sync which allows for official support, however this technology only works with certain monitors.

As of right now The Asus VG248QE + G-Sync upgrade kit is the only monitor that allows you to take advantage of the technology. Asus showcased it’s new ROG Swift monitor that will debut later this year with a 2560×1440 display @120Hz and Nvidia G-Sync technology. AMD also revealed a similar technology code named FreeSync.

The kit comes in at $199 and can be done yourself with this DIY video provided below or if you bring your monitor to the nearest ASUS service center. It’s hard to believe that these monitors can be bought new for around $260 and are commonly bought around the $200 mark. At nearly the cost of the monitor itself, I can’t imagine these kits will be too popular but only time will tell!
